I keep saying that there aren't enough hours in the day and it's so true. I'm constantly trying to divide my time among all the sorts of activities I want to participate it. It's a hard scheduling problem. Anyway he are some stuff I've been up to lately:
Football (for the U.S.: soccer). Really, U.S. football should be called something else. Yes, the ball is kicked every now and then... but just every now and then! Anyway, I've been playing football as long as I remember and I can't get enough of it lately. My latest endeavours include playing in four teams! That's two 11x11 teams on Sundays and two 8x8 on Mondays. I can't seem to say no to more playing opportunities as they arise, though sometimes I have to. My position is that of a goalkeeper! I like it, and some say I'm good at it. Apart from football though, I like sports. I play a little of basketball as well. I go to a gym. I'm also interested in other sports you have to suggest such as volleyball and tennis, but perhaps my second favorite sport is table tennis. It has great depth in its technique.
Flying This is certainly the second time sink I have. I have been flying small planes for 6-7 years now and it was one of the best decisions I made. Think of single-engine, propeller-driven, four-seat airplanes and you get the picture. Perhaps in my pictures section you can find more. With flying I have been fortunate enough to make various excursions to other states or countries come true that would have otherwise been difficult or at least more of a hassle. But I also just fly many day trips. Lately I'm also an active flight instructor with a few students. In fact, I also joined Squadron 188 of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) at Oakland. CAP is an auxiliary of the air force and in that squadron we are tasked with aerospace education and emergency services primarily. When a plane goes down we go looking for it! I've had some great training through that, and lately I'm serving as an instructor and check pilot for brand new airplanes the air force is kind enough to buy for us.
Travel Seriously, there is just so much to see and experience. I'd like to make it to Australia and New Zealand one day. Or experience the nature of Alaska. Or Thailand. Or... You get the idea. But it's not only about long trips. There are many beautiful destinations a few hours away, ideal for a weekend getaway.
Bridge. Bridge is a very clever game with great depth, and the aspect of partnership is also great (also potentially stressful!). I am reading 3 books on this game explaining many techniques on how to play and bid. I've recently started playing with folks at the UC Berkeley bridge club. It's a great way to socialize too.
Books. I like reading whenever possible. I enjoy extending my knowledge to other subjects as well. I have read books on modern physics, how humans form habits, about cancer, and many others. I usually do not real novels though when I do Agatha Christie's books frequent my favorites.
Mountain biking. Since I bought a fancy a dual suspension and disk brake mountain bike, I've been into mountain biking. It's great exercise and you see beautiful sights and preserves. That is, if you like nature and wild animals. There is also something fun in going downhill fast in a narrow bumpy trail. I'm slowly building up to biking Mt Diablo.
More. Lately I've been spending time with more stuff, like table tennis and tennis. It's fun discovering! I'm also working on another hobby, but I'll post on that when my training is complete.
